Kenmore OrchestraWelcome!

The Kenmore Orchestra Program is a special place that allows students to express their creativity and intellect.  Orchestra students perform throughout the school year as members of the Concert Orchestra or Philharmonic Orchestra.  Please see the Calendar of Events.  Orchestra is a 3 year course at Kenmore which gives students the opportunity to build skills, mature as musicians, and make friends that last a life time.

Course Descriptions:

Incoming 6th graders:

Beginning 6th grade orchestra – This course is for students who would like to begin playing a string instrument or who need continued practice with reading musical notation.  These students have less than 2 years of playing experience.

Advanced 6th grade orchestra –  This course if for students who can read music fluently and have more than 2 years of playing experience.

7th and 8th graders:

Beginning 7/8th grade orchestra – This course is for students who would like to begin playing a string instrument or who need continued practice with reading musical notation.  These students have less than 2 years of playing experience.

Advanced 7/8th grade orchestra –  This course if for students who can read music fluently and have more than 2 years of playing experience.  Advanced rhythms and technique are studied along with music history and pedagogy.
