PTA Becomes PTSA

On 3/30/2022, the PTA voted unanimously to expand its participation to include students!  We welcome all students to become a participating member of the PTSA and let their voices be heard.

Benefits of being a PTSA

At secondary schools there is an option for student memberships.  This gives students a voice in what the PTSA board does. Student members have the same benefits nationally as their adult counterparts. Students who pay annual dues will be voting members, those who don’t pay, can attend general meetings but cannot vote.  The same benefits apply to those of parents and teachers.  A student can be nominated or run for Vice President or Secretary but not for President or Treasurer.

PTSAs provide youth members with the opportunity to make a difference by developing leadership skills, learning about the legislative process, increasing their self-esteem, and contributing to the school and community. In turn, adult PTSA members gain a new perspective for program development and youth leadership development and acquire a better understanding of the youth of today (from the National PTA web site – PTSA Resources).
